Joloko is an Afro-Caribbean restaurant that wanted something different promoting their menu. In the beginning, they imagined the typical flat-laid food spread, but we ended up conceptualizing the ingredients with the approach of a fashion/editorial twist to it. We played with tons of fresh food, sand, booze, fabrics and a whole lot of on-the-go crafting!

Planning

Helping a digital marketer create a series of visual content for her creative planner launch. Came out with ideas surrounding the theme of planning—thinking, balancing, juggling, rushing through time, in a fashionably manner. Collaborated with local Brooklyn-based designer ‘Mess Queen’ on wardrobe. I did her make-up and hair along with some styling.

We created some outdoor and in studio conceptual fashion shoot.

This was a personal social project of mine in celebrating Mother’s Day. I initially reached out on social media wanting to produce portraitures for the front liner moms, as an appreciation for their dedication throughout the pandemic. I received an overwhelming response with intimate stories of each of their struggles, but considering the little time I had, I decided to narrow down to focus on just one story—a teacher who then recently came out as a transgender and is celebrating her first Mother’s day. I also did a mini interview with Rani and her family, casually speaking of their experience throughout her transformational journey. Check out the video in my blog section!

I produced a mini portraiture series to celebrate Rani’s personal discovery with flower elements as it was spring time, hence the representation of a new life, a new bloom. I was fortunate enough to collaborate with a local florist who designed the beautiful headpiece, fit for a queen, as the name Rani suggests. Capturing Rani in her elements in three different settings—sitting portraiture and still water in a bath tub. To watch the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLu9VPHmA8Q
